Country of Origin: Originates from Somalia. Extracted through steam distillation of gum resin.

Description: Fresh, woody, balsamic, slightly spicy and fruity. Frankincense is said to have a centering effect on the emotions. Used traditionally for meditation and spiritual growth. Frankincense pure essential oil starts as a resin that seeps out of injured bark. This Frankincense tree can grow to be around 20 feet tall, with shiny, wax looking leaves, and white flowers. The oil holds a warm and sweet scent.

Frankincense trees are most commonly found in Somalia, China, Ethiopia, and Southern Arabia. The Chinese would use the resin paste to treat tuberculosis, and leprosy. The incense was used to fumigate rooms occupied by those with illnesses. The Egyptians used the beginning resin as incense, perfume, ingredients for their makeup, and even as an embalming tool.
